Empowering customers to generate GHG reports seamlessly on Greenly

DISCOVERY
Analyzed goal & audience
Identified 2 main problems
Complex data collection
Customers gather diverse data types (CSV, Excel, manual entries, automated connectors) from many stakeholders
Time-Consuming for climate experts
Experts spend excessive time guiding customers through data collection.
Customers lack autonomy.

Main assumptions
Design needs to guide technical and non-technical users (ages 25-55) and be intuitive.
GHG reporting involves collecting diverse data types and many stakeholders.
Users have varying knowledge of GHG reporting and sustainability metrics.
Product must ensure data accuracy and regulatory compliance.
2 goals
Enable customers to create a high-quality GHG report autonomously.
Reduce / remove the need for climate experts to guide customers through data collection.
Opportunities
Save time for climate experts
Focus on core expertise, provide better recommendations.
Customer autonomy
Customers input data themselves, reducing synchronization needs = quicker process.
Faster onboarding
No need climate experts for data collection.
Faster and cost-efficient scaling.

DESIGN
Mapped the core customer journey
Mapped key steps in the user flow to complete a GHG report autonomously.
User perspective: focus on the Sustainability Manager assigning data import tasks.

DESIGN
Designed key mockups for this flow
Partially used design system from another project.
Only had 2 hours left, so designed the 6 core mockups of this flow.
Perspective: Sustainability Manager.
1 - Progress overview and data types
User tracks data import progress and sees recent activity to monitor overall progress.

2 - Assign colleagues
User assigns specific data import tasks to colleagues, sets due dates, and adds comments for clarity and accountability.

3 - Created assignments
User views the details of an assigned data import task, including completion percentage and assignees, and has the option to edit or delete the assignment.

4 - Data import error
Real-time data validation and error handling using open AI API
User identifies errors in the imported data and takes action to edit, replace, or delete the erroneous file.

5 - Data collection in progress
User reviews detailed activity updates to stay informed about the latest changes and progress in the data import process.

6 - GHG Report Ready
User is notified that the GHG report is ready, reviews next steps, and accesses compliance services to go forward in the regulatory compliance procedures.
Compliant services: complete other flow, so simplified a lot here.

TEST & DELIVER
Test assumptions and implement in a lean manner
To test before implementation
Test mockups with real users
Check usability, needs, and context.
Simulate import sessions.
Estimate dev workload with CTO
To prioritize well / make compromises.
